Program Description:

PreCanSkate will consist of an on and off ice portion. Off ice will occur from 12:15-12:30 PM run by our NCCP Coaches, the goal will be to develop skaters comfort level in their skates prior to taking to the ice. They will then take the ice at 12:30 pm.

Canskate is Canada’s flagship learn-to-skate program for beginners of any age that teaches fundamental movements and basic skills. We provide kids with the best foundation by having them complete a series of balance, control and agility skills that will prepare them for any ice skating sport including hockey, figure skating, speed skating, ringette or recreational skating. This program offers a nationally tested and proven curriculum to guarantee the skater’s success. Participants earn ribbons and badges while they learn the fundamental skating skills. CanSkate is the feeder program to all other Skate Canada Skating Programs including CanPowerSkate, StarSkate and CompetitiveSkate. Participants are taught in a group lesson format by NCCP Certified Professional Coaches trained specifically in teaching the mechanics and proper technique of skating. Coaches are assisted by trained Program Assistants. One of the key delivery standards of the CanSkate program is to ensure that participants have a 90% movement rate so that skaters can learn in an active and fun group setting with a 1:10 coach/program assistant to skater ratio. It is recommended that skaters participate in the full 2 day membership to achieve the best development.
